Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District awarded the $1,000 George Todd Memorial Scholarship to Allison Vass of Craig County High School.
Vass has a strong academic record. She was an active member of many school organizations, including FFA, Future Business Leaders of America, Youth of Virginia Speak Out, and Beta Club. She is an active participant in her family’s farm and hopes to return to the farm eventually to raise a family. Additionally, she has been able to gain valuable work experience as a part-time employee of a local pharmacy.
Vass will be attending Virginia Western Community College and plans to become a nurse.
Mountain Castles SWCD annually presents this $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Craig County High School. It is awarded to a deserving student who plans to pursue a career in agriculture, science, or a conservation-related field.
