Haley Meadows, Bubby Entsminger, and Courtney Henderson

Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District recognized Haley Meadows and Courtney Henderson as the 2014 recipients of the Harold P. Entsminger Honorary Scholarship at its annual awards banquet on December 11.

Haley Meadows is a 2014 graduate of James River High School.  She is attending Virginia Western Community College.  Courtney Henderson, a 2014 graduate of Lord Botetourt High School, is attending Virginia Tech.  In addition to having impressive academic and extracurricular credentials, both women have strong family ties to the Botetourt County agricultural community and both have grown up deeply involved with their family farms.

Mountain Castles SWCD annually presents these $1,000 scholarships to a graduating senior from each of Botetourt County’s two high schools.  They are awarded to deserving students who plan to enter an agriculture, science, or conservation related field.  Harold P. “Bubby” Entsminger was a dedicated Mountain Castles SWCD board member and continues to be a strong supporter of agriculture and conservation in Botetourt County
