Sam Alley

Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District recognized Sam Alley as the 2014 recipient of the George Todd Memorial Scholarship at its annual awards banquet on December 11.

Alley, a 2014 graduate of Craig County High School, is pursuing a degree in Agricultural Equipment Systems Technology and will be completing an internship with James River Equipment in Salem in the summer of 2015.

In addition to having impressive academic and extracurricular credentials, Alley has spent his entire life around agriculture and has had first-hand experience with the conservation practices implemented on his family’s beef cattle farm.

Mountain Castles SWCD annually presents a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating senior from Craig County High School.  It is awarded to a deserving student who plans to pursue a career in an environmental science, conservation, forestry, or agricultural-related field.
