Located just north of Fincastle, Martin Farm– operated by Joe, Jason, Kim, and James Martin – has been recognized for its ongoing commitment to agricultural conservation practices. Since 2011, the Martins have installed numerous “best management practices” including tree planting and fencing to protect a riparian buffer along Catawba Creek, building cross fencing to create a rotational grazing system for cattle, and planting cover crops to protect soil health. Martin Farm produces a variety of agricultural products, including cattle, hogs, poultry, seasonal produce, jams, and apple butter.
