2018 Youth Conservation Camp — July 8-14 @ Virginia Tech

This annual camp sponsored by the Virginia Association of Soil and Water Conservation Districts brings together high school students from across the state for a week-long, hands-on experience.  Students learn about natural resources from conservation professionals and university faculty.  The camp features field trips and tours along with recreational and social opportunities for the participants.  Click here for more information about the 2018 camp, including a daily itinerary.

Each year Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District provides two camp scholarships to high school students from Botetourt and/or Craig.  Questions may be directed to Tim Miller at trailrunner95@gmail.com.   All Youth Conservation Camp applications must be submitted to Mountain Castles SWCD by May 1, 2018.

2018 Holiday Lake Forestry Camp — June 18-23 @ Holiday Lake 4-H Educational Center, Appomattox

Sponsored by the Virginia Department of Forestry, Holiday Lake Forestry Camp is an academic, structured, residential camp that focuses on field experiences in forestry and natural resources open to students ages 13-16. Mountain Castles SWCD provides two partial camp scholarships for students from Botetourt and/or Craig.  Campers only pay an $85 registration fee to confirm their attendance and acceptance of the scholarship.

Students may be nominated by any non-related adult.
