Youth Conservation Camp

Mountain Castles SWCD is accepting applications for Youth Conservation Camp from students in grades 9-12. Students can attend one of the high schools in our district or be homeschooled. YCC will be held at Virginia Tech on July 14-20, 2024. Camp is full of hands-on activities, field trips, learning, and fun! The application is available below:

Long-range strategic plan

Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District is developing a new long-range strategic plan in 2024, and we need your input so we can better deliver the services you want most. We’ll use the strategic plan to allocate financial and staff resources for the next four years, so it’s important to know what matters most to you.

New ag cost share video

Mountain Castles SWCD recently worked with Botetourt native and Lord Botetourt HS graduate, Jess Wiegandt of Jess Wiegandt Productions to create this video highlighting district agriculture cost share programs. If you are a local farmer, you will see some familiar faces!

Apply online for a septic tank pump out

Use this Google Form to apply for 50% reimbursement on septic tank pump outs for qualifying homeowners. No income restrictions apply. Once we determine your home is within the grant area, we will email a W-9 for you to complete. No work is to be completed until your application is approved by the MCSWCD board of directors, which meets the second Wednesday of the month. Questions? Residential septic program

The Tinker Creek & Glade Creek Residential Septic Program is available to many homeowners who live in Blue Ridge, Cloverdale, Troutville, or Daleville. Homeowners in these locations may qualify for cost share of 50% or more on septic pump-outs, repairs, and replacement systems. Click here for more information.

Vision Statement

Mountain Castles Soil and Water Conservation District will advocate for the sustainable use of natural resources and will act to improve water quality and soil health through conservation and education programs for the people of Botetourt County and Craig County.
